Team Kahele Walks In The Hilo Relay For Life For Cancer

Team Kahele led by their State Senator and candidate Gil Kahele participated in the 20th annual American Cancer Societyʻs Relay For Life At Hiloʻs Wong Baseball Stadium. A packed crowd of thousands turned out to honor those cancer survivors and those that have lost their life to cancer. The event benefits the American Cancer Society and thier fight and research against cancer. Team Kahele walked 12 hours from 6PM to 6AM and raised over $500.00 for the event. Mahalo Nui Loa to the overwhelming show of support from the volunteers that participated! With 20 days to go before the primary election Team Kaheleʻs grassroots effort continues to grow and inspire so many members of the Hilo community to support for their State Senator from Hilo.

Kahele Attends Hilo Meishoin Obon Dance Friday Evening

State Senator Gil Kahele participated in the Hilo Meishoinʻs annual Obon Dance Friday evening. Unlike the Sangha Hall event last week, this event was held outdoors and the attending crowd was blessed with a clear night and very little rain. Senator Kahele appears to be improving his Obon dancing skills and is becoming a regular at these events that honor the deceased from the past.
