The South Hilo Rotary Club hosts the “Hilo Huli” on Coconut Island

HILO, Hawaiʻi – Senator Gil Kahele attended the annual “Hilo Huli” yesterday on Moku ʻOla (Coconut Island) an annual event hosted by the South Hilo Rotary Club. Vendors, food booths, crafts, chef stations a silent auction and more were set up on the island and was a great place to enjoy the sunny Sunday weather in Hilo. Prior to this event Senator Kahele attended the Hawaiʻi Army National Guardʻs dedication of its newest light utility helicopter (The Lakota). The Rotarianʻs also sponsored another event earlier in support of the Hilo Medical Residency program which Senator Kahele is a strong supporter of. Kahele attends the East Hawaiʻi Kiwanis breakfast at Waiakea High

HILO, Hawaiʻi – Senator Gil Kahele spent the morning in Hilo doing what he loves best, visiting with the people! He had breakfast with the East Hawaiʻi Kiwanis chapter which was holding a fundraiser at Waiakea High School. Mayor Billy Kenoi was there passing out breakfast plates in the drive through line as well as former Congressman and United State Senate Candidate, Ed Case and his wife Audrey. After breakfast it was off to Honokaʻa for the Hawaiʻi Island Democratic County Convention. Pictured with Senator Gil Kahele are Kevin and Day Day Hopkins and Bobbie and Bill Kikuchi enjoying a nice Saturday morning breakfast.

The Hawaiʻi State Senate has Adjourned Sine Die for the 2012 Legislative Session

HONOLULU, Hawaiʻi – Senator Gilbert Kahele and the other 24 members of the Hawaiʻi State Senate adjourned the 2012 Legislative session this afternoon with the passage of
an 11.2 billion state budget and 3.2 billion capital improvement project plan for the State. This session was marked with several highlights including the OHA Settlement Bill and an
Undersea Electric Cable Bill that would reduce the electrical costs of Hawaiiʻs residents. Senator Kahele along with the rest of Hawaiʻi Islands Senate delegation were able to get significant
legislation passed as well as millions of dollars in improvements and new project spending for Hawaiʻi Island. This years budget was accomplished without raising any taxes and went down to
the wire with both the House and Senate compromising on several key initiatives. Senator Kahele will be announcing a joint legislative update session with Hilo Representative Clift Tsuji
later this month where they will give a comprehensive report on what they were able to accomplish this session to their East Hawaiʻi constituents.
