Senator Kahele visits SOPOGY at APEC HAWAI’I 2011

Senator Kahele got an early opportunity to visit the APEC Hawai’i 2011 Business and Innovation Showcase at the Hawaii Convention Center. 35 Hawai’i Businesses throughout the State were selected to showcase their businesses models and products. The showcase provides an unprecedented opportunity for Hawaii’s local businesses to showcase their products and services to an international audience. One of the featured businesses was SOPOGY who’s founder and CEO Darren Kimura is a native of Senator Kahele’s hometown of Hilo. A 1992 graduate of Waiakea High School, Darren Kimura has built SOPOGY into one of the leading innovators of Clean Energy throughout Hawai’i, Asia and the World.

Friends of Gil Kahele Hilo “Pau Hana” Fundraiser a Success!

On October 27th in Hilo at the ILWU Harry Kamoku Hall the FOGK Team hosted a “Pau Hana” with State Senator Gil Kahele. Hosted by Hawaii’s Ambassador of Aloha, Danny Kaleikini the event attracted over 500 people and was a huge success! Over 75 volunteers helped to make this event a memorable one and a good time was enjoyed by all. Stan Kaina provide Hawaiian music and the night featured impromptu performances by Senator Brickwood Galuteria and Danny Kaleikini. Special guests that attended included Senator Malama Solomon, Representative Bob Herke’s and Faye Hanohano. Honolulu Councilwoman Tulsi Gabbard, Former Congressman Ed Case and Hilo attorney and also candidate for US House Bob Marx. Several notable public officials offered a few words on behalf of Senator Kahele and they were Senator Galuteria and Solomon and Hawaii Island Mayor Billy Kenoi. The night also featured Danny Kaleikini performing a traditional Hawaiian Ho’okupu ceremony with a  “Ohe Hano Ihu” or Hawaiian Nose Flute for his longtime friend Senator Gil Kahele. Mahalo again for all that volunteered, attended and contributed to the Senator’s fundraiser, the FOGK team are well on our way to a successful 2012 campaign!

The Friends Of Gil Kahele Hilo “Pau Hana” Fundraiser is Tonight!

The Friends of Gil Kahele Team is hosting a “Pau Hana” with Senator Gil Kahele tonight in Hilo at the ILWU Harry Kamoku Hall on Lanikaula Street.

Hosted by Hawaii’s “Ambassador of Aloha” Danny Kaleikini, tonights event will kick off Gil Kahele’s 2012 campaign for the Senatorial District 2 seat he was appointed to in January by Governor Neil Abercrombie. Stan Kaina and his trio will be performing Hawaiian music as will other special guests and there will be heavy pupu’s and
local style shoyu chicken plate for dinner. Minimum suggested donation is $10.00 and contributions can be made on the campaign site at or at the reception table at tonights event.

Parking is limited so you are encouraged to come early! See you there and mahalo for supporting Gil Kahele for Hawaii State Senator!
